Of Hope Could Use Caring People Like You

partnership with the Bradford County Department of Human Services, Seeds of
Hope seeks to provide the basic needs of local families so that parents and
children may remain together. Do you
have a few hours that you can spend in service for Jesus? Can you swing a hammer? Can you cuddle a
child? Can you mentor a parent? Can you give a few dollars once a
month? If you feel called to help,

Connection, your local emergency assistance ministry, is looking for
volunteers to help take applications for clients and/or answer the
phone. Hours are currently 1:00pm –

of the immediate area while remaining good stewards of God's
resources. The aim of Grace
Connection is to lovingly aid people over the hardships of life by
connecting with them in the name of Jesus Christ, and to help provide
assistance (monetary) when and where other agencies are not available. Though not a church in itself, pastors
and approved representatives associated with Grace Connection are
encouraged to share any literature and spiritual guidance with anyone in
need.

Reaching People Who Have Difficulty with Reading and Writing

The Bradford-Wyoming County
Literacy Program is searching for any person who would be willing to reach
people in our area who have difficulty reading and writing by being a
tutor. Much of life can be enhanced
with the gift of reading.

Area Agency on Aging
Life can be tough for older folks and their families.
The Area Agency on Aging is there to help!
In-Home services, care management, home support, home repair,
home delivered meals, attendant care, family caregiver, support placement. Foster
grandparent program placement services, personal care boarding homes,
domiciliary care, legal and ombudsman services. Pre-admission assessment
services. Transportation: to and from medical appointments, to attend
senior centers, to help with grocery shopping. Center services: noon meal,
socialization, volunteer opportunities, participation in recreation and
education programs. Employment opportunities: outreach, information and
referral, help with property tax rebate applications.

numerous opportunities for volunteering.
Talents that can be utilized extend from small construction/home
repair, transportation, home meal delivery, cooking, time for grocery

Penn-York Valley Habitat
For Humanity
Penn-York Valley HFH is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for
Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing
organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need
to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold
to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Volunteers provide most of the
labor (construction, painting, finishing, landscaping, etc.), and
individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build
Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of
labor - sweat equity - into building their homes and the homes of others.
Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used
to build more houses.

of Hope
A ministry of area churches and other interested individuals
in partnership with the Bradford County Department of Human Services.
The purpose of Seeds of Hope Partners is to coordinate
volunteers and funds to assist families in crisis. The goal is to provide basic needs to
maintain families and aid in reunifying families.
Volunteer Opportunities:

food, clothing, and bedding
Make home
repairs that affect children’s health and safety
Assist in
finding a newer home for a family
Help
families to establish and maintain support networks through mentoring
Meet
emergency needs of a family in crisis – i.e. food, utilities, home repairs,
